Summary-
President Obama has decided to include the rebuilding of the bridge that connects Ohio and Kentucky in his $447 billion jobs bill. He claims that rebuilding the bridge will create more jobs, and that a new bridge would promote commerce between the two states. Obama says that the bridge is old, and too small to accommodate the number of people who need to use it. The bridge, however, is only part of his plan, and Republicans are reluctant to accept the bill as a whole.

Connection-
The economy is in peril, and a solution must be found. The question is really whether everyone in Congress can agree to one plan. As the debate continues between Republicans and Democrats, people are losing jobs and money that they need to make certain things in society function. A good solution as to what money should be spent on which areas of the economy will be hard to find, especially since America is in debt with limited resources.
This connects to class because of a few articles found while doing research for class. The articles indicated that the next presidential election would be largely decided by the state of the economy.

Reflection-
The debate over the economy seems to be more about political posturing for the upcoming elections. Whomever can be seen putting more of their ideas into a bill will claim that they have had more success in office, though the two sides really should be working together. The federal budget is limited, and the idea of spending money on a new bridge where one already exists really looks like a reelection bid for Obama.
