Summary-
Some restrictions on non-citizens in America buying guns have been lifted. This makes things slightly more equal for them in this area, but some people protest the lifting of restrictions out of concern for safety. It is thought that fewer restrictions for non-citizens makes it easier for terrorists to acquire weapons.
Connection-
Laws are often influenced by the needs of a growing group of people. As Hispanics become a larger part of the country's population (many of them from Mexico, and with family members that they wish to bring to America), laws and politics will likely change to reflect that. People from across the border who live in America could want to have the same rights as someone born in the United States. This connects to class through diagrams of the country's growing Hispanic population that were shown during a unit involving demographics.
Personal Reaction-
Simply because someone is from another country does not mean they are a terrorist. Many people simply want a gun to protect themselves, and there likely would not be much of a difference of intentions between a person who was born in America and a person born elsewhere if they were living in the same area.
